Passion of the Lamb

Love Can Leap Over Stumbling Blocks

I have come to realize that any tendency to diminish the reality of Christ’s presence in the Eucharist usually goes hand in hand with a tendency to diminish the reality of the true humanity or divinity of Jesus in His Incarnation, as well in the importance and reality of the bodily Resurrection.  We will demonstrate each of these in due course:  here we simply observe the scandal, the stumbling block, which can only be leaped over by love.  As with the real and total divinity and humanity of Jesus, the Real Presence is a stumbling block not so much to our minds as to our hearts.  Page 82
