2013 September 4 - Finding Union with Christ

Jesus is not just a model for all Christians of what mystical life is. He is also the image of the invisible God, the reflection of God’s glory, and the exact imprint of God’s very being, which is why he is the only way to arrive at the Father’s house and the one in whom we contemplate the face of God. Thus, Christ in his humanity, and in the mysteries of his death and resurrection, is the foundation of Christian mysticism. Saint John invites us to strive after union with Christ and to abide in him, because eternal life is essentially knowing the Father and the one whom he has sent. (pages 40-41)
