2013 August 25 - Seeking Solitude

Distance is needed for perspective and true spiritual freedom. But the solitude we most seek and for which this physical and inner solitude are a preparation is the solitude to be found in God. Of this solitude, Saint Bernard exclaimed: “O blessed solitude, my sole beatitude!” Of this solitude I really cannot write. It is to be experienced. It is so solitary, there is nothing of which to write. Yet, in this solitude, all is. And one knows in this solitude that he has in the power of God, in the Christness of his person, the love power, the being to lift up the whole of creation. And in fact, in his very being there he is lifting up the whole creation, every woman, man, and child, and all else, animate and inanimate. (pages 5-6)
