2013 August 8 - Christ is the Revelation of God

There is in the Gospel an episode that is very simple, and yet magnificent. You are familiar with it, but this is the place at which to recall it. It was the eve of Jesus’s Passion. Our Lord, as only He could, had spoken of His Father to His apostles; and they, quite transported, desired to see and know the Father. The apostle Philip cries out: “Lord, show us the Father and we shall ask for nothing more.” And Christ Jesus, in reply, says: “Have I been so long a time with you, and you still do not know me? Philip, he who sees me sees also the Father.” Yes, Christ is the revelation of God, of His Father. As God, He is but one with Him; and whoever contemplates Him sees the revelation of God. (page 43)
