Summer Newsletter Response

Summer 2011 Touchstone Cover

July 2011

Dear Friend,

During these last days of the Easter season, we Nuns of St. Emma Monastery are still reflecting on the Risen Christ and looking forward to His promise of sending the Holy Spirit anew into our lives on Pentecost. We reflect on our chosen vows formulated by the Rule of St. Benedict.

Stability is our commitment of lifelong fidelity to God and our community at St. Emma. It also says to you, our friends and benefactors that we support you by offering up our prayer and work day by day. Conversatio commits us to the practice of our monastic vocation as our path to holiness and this vow includes implicitly the vows of poverty and chastity. We also need the visible witness of others trying to follow Christ in their daily lives. Obedience means listening to God’s voice through prayer, the Rule, the Prioress and our Community.

Your desire to follow God’s will is underpinned by our visible witness to trying to do the same.  Our life is a wonderful journey with Christ and toward the eternal life with Christ as we try to meet each day through the faith filter.

Your generosity reminds us of God’s great love for us as you help sustain us with your material gifts, your prayer and through our many, many wonderful volunteers.

Rejoice with us and the Church as we celebrate the Risen Christ and look forward to this year’s outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. You and your special intentions of are remembered in a special
way in our prayer.

Yours in the Risen Lord,

Mother Mary Anne Noll, O.S.B.
Prioress
